Fulton County, Georgia Background Check Process

In order to work in Fulton County, Georgia, you must complete a state background check. The following steps are the steps needed to obtain this qualification.

  1. Register and pay for the fingerprint background check at https://www.aps.gemalto.com/indext.htm
    1. Click on Georgia
    2. Click on Applicant Registration
    3. Click on Education Agencies (EA)
    4. Click on Public Schools
    5. Read Privacy Rights; checkbox (“I have read and accepted these terms”); click Continue
    6. For “Agency”, select Fulton County Board of Education from the drop-down list
    7. For “reason”, select School Employment – Public Schools or Volunteer Providing direct care from the drop-down list
    8. For “Position Applied for”, enter Company Name and School/Department Name
    9. For “Fingerprint Card User”, skip and DO NOT check the box
    10. For “Payment”, select Credit Card or Money Order from the drop-down list ($49.25 total cost)
    11. Complete all areas highlighted in yellow. Click Continue and follow the instructions on the screen
  2. Proceed to be fingerprinted at an approved location (sites and hours can be found at https://www.aps.gemalto.com/index.htm , then select Find a Fingerprint Location from the left side of the page)
  3. Report to the Fulton County Schools Administrative Building located at 6201 Powers Ferry Road, Atlanta, GA 30339 to be photographed and badged (no earlier than 2 days, but no later than 30 days after being fingerprinted). Photographing and badging occurs on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (9:00 am – 11:00 am and 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm) Contact the Department of Safety & Security at 470-254-7159 with questions or comments.
  4. Upload a copy of your Fulton County Schools Spur Contractor badge into the Fulton County GA Background Check & Badge qualification in the Spur app.
    1. To upload into the Spur app go to the search tool in the bottom left side in the app
    2. Under qualifications select “View All”
    3. Find the qualification labeled “Fulton County GA Background Check & Badge”
    4. Select I have this qualification
    5. Click next
    6. Upload a clear picture of your badge
    7. Click submit. A Spur representative will approve your qualification
  5. Request to join the Substitute Custodian (South Fulton) and/or (North Fulton) team.
  6. Once your request is approved you will have access to select an assignment.
